Let Your Heart Break

Dreams Come True

Danny Dillon used to kill
on the stage at Passion Green.
The girls would try to catch his eye,
he was welcome in their jeans,
he was the man of their dreams.
Now he plays at Mitch’s Maze,
he’s got to bring his own PA.
He plays guitar for an empty bar,
he can see it’s slipped away,
      but tomorrow’s another day.

Danny drags his gear out of a closing bar,
Somewhere deep down he knows
   he’s gonna be a superstar.

Samantha Luce got great reviews,
   the college news was keen.
She flew to Cali hit the Valley,
but she couldn’t reach the screen,
like they do in the magazines.
She took a part to get a start,
she had to peel off all her clothes.
The camera rolled she sold her soul,
she watched the leading man grow,
she had to close her eyes to blow.

It’s funny how your dreams come true
There’s only reality in your way

Curtis Cole could drive the hole,
earned a free ride to UNC.
He scored and scored and scored and scored,
attacked the boards and played great D,
and then he blew away his knee.
He worked to heal his wounded wheel,
he spent a lifetime in the gym.
Every year the doctor’s clear,
“Your chances range from none to slim.”
So he holds on tight to slim.

It’s funny how your dreams come true,
There’s only reality in your way.
Just because you haven’t doesn’t mean you won’t
It’s all who you know,
Tomorrow your big break might show.

Billie Shears had played for years
in a band called Oswald’s Gun.
A song she wrote called “I can float”
was burning brighter than the sun,
      it rose to number one.
She said “I’m owed” the money flowed,
She leased the floor above the top.
The fall was steep the drugs were cheap,
she got a habit she couldn’t drop,
and then the second album flopped

It’s funny how your dreams come true,
There’s only reality in your way.
Just because you haven’t doesn’t mean you won’t,
   (Why not you?)
It’s all who you know,
Tomorrow your big break might show.

Billy turned to Jesus begged him
“Father, please protect me from harm.”
Next day they found her face down,
with a needle in her arm
As the lights were fading out she said
“At last I am a superstar.”
